Message from the President, Peter Whitely:
SAFETY
I have been on the receiving end of several phone calls over the long weekend in relation to unsafe flying practices. The following is never allowed, and the committee will follow up on written complaints:
- Landing a model in the pilot’s box
- Buzzing a member retrieving a model
- Starting or arming models in the undercover area
- Unrestrained models during startup, testing, etc
- Starting models aimed at the undercover pit area
- No 3D manourvres are to be flown any closer than 9 metres to all pilots in the pilot’s box (excluding electric models with a wingspan of less than 1m)
Please try and resolve safety issues by talking to each other at the field. I cannot resolve issues based on a phone call as there will always be two or more sides to any issue and one phone call turns into many to try and understand what has happened. If you cannot resolve an issue at the field and you believe formal action is needed, you will have to put your issue in writing addressed to the Secretary, Lismore Model Flying Club (ylismfc@gmail.com) I can then take the appropriate action to resolve which may include getting assistance from our State body depending upon the nature of the issue.
Remember that Club Membership is not automatic based on paying your fees. Your membership constitutes an agreement by you to comply with the Rules and By-Laws of LMFC plus the overriding rules of MAAA and our insurers. The club has the right to reject a membership application.
